What’s my deal?
Hello lovelies! I know you’re wondering “Who is this chick and why should I listen to her?” Honestly, it’s a fair question and I’ll try to hit the highlights.
I’m like many of you: I was raised in evangelical Christianity (BOTH my parents are pastors :/) and lived and breathed the faith for a lot of years. I’m talking church camp, purity pledges, Christian university, seminary, ministry—the WORKS. I tried really hard to be who I was supposed to be: feminine but not tempting, strong but not intimidating, faithful but not indoctrinated, open-minded but uncompromising…
It. Was. EXHAUSTING.
And life did not cooperate. I began my deconstruction journey while studying abroad in the Middle East, continued it through marriage and divorce, and have finally reached a place of peace and contentment. Sex, pleasure, and intimacy was my way of healing the connection with myself that evangelicalism and purity culture didn’t allow.
Even though I’ve deconstructed, I’m still a clinical chaplain and I love my work. I care deeply about being human and experiencing all that life has to offer. That very much includes sex and pleasure.
I want the same for you.
Purity culture is a mindfuck. Deconstruction is painful and lonely. I’m here to support your journey towards your fullest self. If that includes spirituality, I love it. If it doesn’t include spirituality, I love that too.
